The Beth Goodman Scholarship Award

COPAA will offer Beth Goodman Scholarship Awards for COPAA's 12th Annual Conference in St. Louis Missouri. The scholarship helps defray conference travel expenses. Recipients are COPAA members with financial need who have made significant contributions to special-education advocacy. The award is named in honor of the late Beth Goodman, COPAA Board Member and an attorney who dedicated her life to advocating for students with disabilities in the Washington, D.C. area. COPAA welcomes donations for the Beth Goodman scholarship fund, which may be made here.

The scholarship does not include pre-conference skills trainings and expenses (on March 13 and 14). Scholarship will include a stipend in the amount of $600-800 towards travel expenses (depending on the amount of funds available and travel costs). Recipients will receive complementary registration for the Main Conference on March 12-14, 2010.

Applicants must be COPAA members. The application for the March 2010 conference is available in the Members only area of the site.

Registration Fee Discount Scholarship

A limited number of qualified individuals whose family income is at or below the federal poverty level or have extenuating circumstances may apply for a conference registration fee discount. As part of the scholarship program we ask that recipients volunteer 1-2 hours of time working at the COPAA conference. If you are interested in applying for this type of scholarship please send in a written statement with the Conference Registration Form Feb. 1, 2010 that explains why you believe you meet eligibility. A COPAA Representative will contact you to confirm eligibility and availability.
